About Us
The Tivoli Theatre is one of Scotland's most historic buildings, a Grade A listed landmark that originally opened in 1872 as Her Majesty's Opera House. The theatre was designed by James Matthews and C.J. Phipps, and later extensively remodelled by the renowned theatre architect Frank Matcham.
The theatre has served Aberdeen for generations, hosting everything from opera and variety to modern touring productions, comedy, and music. Its historic interiors and layered stories remain central to the Tivoli experience.
Today, the Tivoli continues to evolve as a welcoming, working venue: a place for memorable nights out, cultural discovery, and the preservation of a much-loved city-centre theatre's unique atmosphere.
