The Tivoli Theatre is awarded funding from Historic Scotland
We are pleased to announce that Historic Scotland will be supporting the regeneration of The Tivoli Theatre by awarding us funding through their Building Repair Grant. The capital will go towards strengthening the Victorian, Grade-A listed building’s internal historic features, including its ornate frescos.
Fiona Hyslop, Cabinet Secretary for Culture and External Affairs, announced the funding ahead of her visit to the city on March 20th. She said: ‘The Tivoli Theatre is one of Aberdeen’s most historic public buildings and has been such an important performance space for the arts for over 100 years.’
Brian Hendry, the theatre’s Managing Director, commented: ‘We are absolutely delighted to have the support of a national heritage organisation like Historic Scotland and we welcome their recognition that the theatre’s interior is significant enough to attract grant support. This investment is crucial in bringing the final part of the Tivoli project to completion, through the repair of these significant and original interiors that date back over one hundred years.’
